Lindeloff and Cuse told Variety they couldn't finish all 8 episodes, but could probably do 5 and have them ready to air in succession.

Also, they think they'd just compress those 8 episodes into 5 and finish the arc they originally had planned.

And then next year, add 3 more episodes to complete the contract.

So that's good news.

The third season of "Lost" is over and much like the first two seasons, the Jack-centric finale has left us with even MORE questions than we had before it.

But it also left us with a twist so memorable, it will surely go down in TV history.

Alright, after weeks of silence on this board, NO ONE has an excuse not to post about last night's episode. I can't be alone in thinking it was another all-time great. Just this week the Lost producers announced the show's end date, after three more seasons at 16 episodes each, where LOST will, they claim, become an answer-based show... and that this transition would begin this week.

THE ANSWERS

Finally, I felt some satisfaction at getting some answers I've been looking for for a while. And it seems like just as the hatch-implosion "ended" the Hatch Chapter, last night in a way "ended" the Dharma Initiative Chapter. We now know they were just a group of progressive hippies doing experimental research, nothing more, nothing less (granted, we still don't know where the hell the island is). The most important thing about the Dharma Initiative isn't what they're doing and how, it's that for their entire stay they've been fending off the hostiles, the island's true homeowners. We know that Ben wasn't born on the island, he was just dragged along by his widowed father (is it now safe to say that EVERY character on LOST has daddy issues?), and while there he both experienced the island's true realm of mystery and also encountered these hostiles, mainly Richard (a character I'd hoped would be further developed), a hostile who DOESN'T AGE. The rest is simple: Ben made a pact, and twenty years or so later he and the hostiles gassed the Dharma staff and have been living in their facilities ever since. As far as I'm concerned, the Dharma Initiative need not be ever mentioned again; like the hatch chapter, this one is closed. It's time to look at an even bigger picture.

In other answer-based news, we've bit hit over the head once again with the truth that Juliet is good, and we now know that Kate probably isn't pregnant and that the original Losties now have the time and leverage to make sure Sun, Aaron, and everyone else is safe from any harm.

THE QUESTIONS

Nothing has made me so giddy all season as seeing that Richard, and probably all of the hostiles, does not age, or has some kind of eternal life. With this mystery comes another: Jacob, not a figment of Ben's imagination but a bonafide ghost, shackled in confinement, reaching out to Locke and terrorizing his intruders. And then, at last, LOST's return to form, in which the awesome spiritual majesty of the island itself is re-awakened. The bodiless whispers are back, haunting a young Ben as he explores the island on his own. The dead have haunted the island for a long while, as young Ben encounters the image of his dead mother across a symbolic threshold (much like another spectacled, messy-haired young "wizard" I'm thinking of) -- this was one of the best LOST scenes I've seen in a long time. And nothing reconfirms the mysterious power of the island itself more than Jacob him/itself.

I loved the dark, cinematic tone of this episode. Scenes from this episode will haunt me. In the meantime, I'm shaking in my seat at the thought of Locke being lost to the island once and for all. If he was going to die, he would have died in the last moments of the episode, right? Right??? It wouldn't be one of the all-time great Lost episodes if it didn't leave us hanging. And after 40 minutes of sympathizing with little Ben, realizing that he was just another victim of circumstance and is really not that bad at all, he goes and does something as twisted as shooting Locke and leaving him for dead.

Weirdest. Episode. Ever.

I can't believe it, but I think I loved last night's episode. This DESPITE.....

--LOST using a format they never have before, taking two relatively new characters and filling in different points in LOST history with them, kind of like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. A total gimmick, but I liked it.

--LOST using a shot I had never seen from them before. The POV shot of Nikki coming out of the jungle when she staggers and falls, slamming into the sand with her. Weird, but cool.

--LOST not using "previously on LOST" instead beginning abruptly with the slammin' hot Nikki in the strip club. My first thought: "oh shit, the fanboys are going to LOVE her now!!!"

--Lando fucking Calrissian.

--Establishing Nikki as a young up-and-coming actress who also moonlights as a confidence (wo)man with her South American trash boyfriend Paolo. Also, we're to believe a hit show in the US (although never specified) shoots in Austrailia?

--LOST using not one, not two, but three people who have already died on the show? Boone, Shannon and Artz?! All in one episode for no real apparent reason.

--The overall macabre nature of the episode. From Charlie cheekily referring to Artz blowing up, to the significance of exotic spiders, to the last shot of Nikki's eyes bursting open, I was wondering if LOST superfan Steven King wrote this episode. So much craziness had happened I half expected one of their hands to burst up out of the ground like some zombie movie.

--did I mention, Nikki is fucking HOT. Paolo too, for the ladies, and I love how they worked in his "toilet still works" line, this time with added significance.

After last night's awesome episode of lost, "Par Avion," I felt a month was a good lay off from this site.

The last two weeks have been right back in line with classic season one stuff. Just amazingly entertaining. And last night, we might have finally learned the way they are getting off the island, we began to see a whole new link between two major survivors (see the title) and had two of the coolest scenes yet - the barrier wall and the final scene.

Locke next week, NikkiPaulo soon after, oh man. Lost is back boys and girls.

I'm surprised no one has posted yet, so leave it to the guy who never has any insight. I have to say, I thought these past two weeks were one of the best 1-2 combos of LOST episodes we've had. Why? Because the flashbacks (always a source of debate) are best when they are plot driven, not "mood driven" (example: Jin and Sun's flashback telling us AGAIN that Sun had doubts about Jin because he's kinda crazy and stubborn and over-protective, we know). Last week we got Juliette's recruitment pitch, this week, we have the It's a Wonderful Life-esque inspired Desmond episode. Loved it. The final twist though, haven't they almost killed Charlie like 2 or 3 times? Why do they pick on him?

Lost to return early?

"Apparently, amid fears that the ongoing string of critically challenged replacements will bury ABC's chances of regaining its Wednesday footing, execs at the alphabet network have dropped in on the LOST crew with the following proposition: how much money do you need to get LOST on the air early....
This would be huge news for LOST fans who are still spasming over a dread seven weeks with no new material. For sure the move would generate humongous buzz for the network which is still reeling from what is considered a series of bad mistakes over its once dominate Wednesday night line up.

If it is done, LOST would return January 10th or January 17th, three to four weeks earlier then previously expected. The dependent factor is whether or not the production can be rounded out in time so that the series does not miss a week. The cost for beefing up LOST's post production temporarily seems well worth saving some face with a jaded fan base. Such a move could very well make ABC the most fan-friendly network. "

"Kate, Damnit, Run!"

So that was the big cliffhanger for this mini season huh?

It was a great episode, filled with tension and little tidbits of information but as a cliffhanger? I was severely underwhelmed. That aside, we now have three months to discuss "I Do" before "Not in Portland" on Feb. 7 - a JULIET-centric episode.

Nathan Fillion rules. He should be on the island with a side holster and save them all on the Firefly. Instead he's a Miami cop who Kate was married to. Do we have any idea where in her timeline this was? Probably between killing that dude and Australia? And was it important that he's from Miami?

The biggest tease for me in this episode was, "Shepard wasn't even on Jacob's list." Is Jacob the true leader of the Others? Will meeting him explain SOMETHING at all about these people and why they kidnap children and dress as hillbillies? Probably not.

Anyway - let's get cracking on discussing this episode, a good one to be sure, but "The Best Episode Yet?" I don't really think so.

R.I.P., Mista Eko

It didn't look like you were smacked around that badly, but those polar bear bite wounds might've prevented you from surviving the black smoke's wrath. Why would the black smoke be so horrible to you after it was friendly enough to show you those magical images late last season? Doesn't the black smoke remember you? Perhaps it wants your soul, or, upon contact, reflects your current emotional state, but either way, we all thought the black smoke was your friend, and friends should never hurt other friends. But I guess sometimes friends turn, just like Juliet and her tumor-y "pal" Benry.

We hope that the undead soul of your late brother will one day manifest itself on the island to seek revenge and clear your name. And God willing, perhaps even Jack's father will come to his aid and stand by his side, seeking resolution with his son before entering the afterlife. After all, two wandering undead souls are always better than one... I think.

R.I.P., Mista Eko. See you in anotha life, brotha.

P.S. Don't be afraid. With death, there is also rebirth -- in the form of super hottie Nikki, now given the honor to speak on the show and be involved in all things worth revealing. She joins us as another in a long line of supermodel-esque women that somehow ended up marooned on LOST island.

Four down, two to go...

Well I'm glad the previews for NEXT week say that "the next two episode change everything" because nothing changed with this week's Sawyer centric episode.

I mean it wasn't terrible, there were some cool things, but overall I'm still banking on these last few episodes really coming together for a huge mid season payoff.

Cool things I remember:
1. Jack might have been captured to do spinal surgery on someone, and that someone might be Benry.
2. Sawyer was in jail and has a daughter
3. Apparently, the Others are on another island...that no one on the original island has ever seen and makes no sense when juxtaposed with the beginning of this season (it all looked like one island, unless they live on one and experiment on another)
4. The Others are good con men.
5. Sun killed Colleen, who was "Buck and I like to Fuck's" wife.
6. Desmond is still seeing into the future, he is building some sort of weird lightning thing and we were introduced to our news spanish character.

What else did I miss? Did you love tonight's episode? Am I alone in my apathy? I'm not ready to give up or anything and still have faith in the series no matter what, but let's talk about what I thought was an - eh - episode, "Every Man for Himself."

KNOW you can Locke it like THIS SON!!

"Ah, the good shit..."

So. Let's recap what we learned last night, shall we?

-Locke's wheelchair gives him the creeps. The flash frame creeps.
-Boone appears and "speaks" for the island.
-Locke doesn't have a problem with mind-altering drugs, and likes to spend quality time in his sweat lodge.
-Desmond can tell the future. And only Hurley knows.
-Locke is the new leader of the LOSTies (now we get to see the body count rise).
-Locke was a victim/key suspect of a major drug bust, but we don't know what ultimately happened.
-The hatch "imploded."
-Desmond, Locke, Eko, and Charlie are all perfectly a-ok. For now, at least.
-The failsafe key worked, whatever that white flash was.
-There's still one crazy polar bear running around, and he lives in an awesome cave.
-Finally, some LOSTie noobs start talking!

And as always, the multitude of questions:

-What is that shit Locke's eating? Looks like poop.
-Why couldn't Locke speak at the beginning of the ep?
-Why did Locke choose to put the sweat lodge inside Eko's church?
-Why was Locke in a wheelchair? And why, when he was in the midst of his spirit walk with Boone, did he no longer have the use of his legs?
-How the hell is Desmond able to tell the future?
-Who saved Desmond and Locke? (unless they either a.) don't remember, or b.) managed to escape, but just haven't said)
-Is it strictly coincidence that Hurley appeared just as Locke and Charlie were expecting the polar bear?
-Are the polar bears smarter than they should be?
-Was Eko being taken a coincidence, or is there more to it?
-Is there any significance to the way characters were presented in Locke's spirt walk sequence?
-Will Eko survive with Jack gone?

Of course there's plenty I'm not thinking of, but can I just say that I was loving last night's ep, up until about the last 15 minutes where it just totally lost steam? What happened to the regular cliffhangers? I miss the urgency of LOST.

Btw, where else have I seen the guy who played the undercover cop in Locke's flashbacks? Was he in another ep/season?

Getting better, prolly my fave ep of the season so far, but still missing that punch that makes LOST so great...

Dear Lost,
I've loved you. I think you're a great television show. And for a while there I thought you might become more to me. I thought we could elope together and live in a world where everything was confusing yet intriguing. Where all your mysteries begged to be solved and might keep me awake at night with their startling, beautiful complexity.

But sometime as last season was coming to a close and especially over this past summer, I began to have a change of heart. In the midst of your cheesy attempts to show your love for me: your dreaded webisodes, your masturbatory podcasting, your "It" factor....I became somewhat disillusioned. And, like so many others, I prayed for episode 1 of Season 3. I hoped it would restore my faith...nay, my love.

Slowly, like so many Japanese-American citizens returning home after "going away" in the 1940s, my love is returning. But it's not as easy as it used to be. You need to prove to me that you still have what it takes to keep me up at night, to keep our fire burning. After the premier I wasn't so sure. I thought we might need to Just Be Friends for a while. But you know me Lost. You know that the Red Sox are the way to my heart. And sure enough, you played your trump card, right there in episode 2. You must have great things in store for me to blow your load so early. Maybe it's a french tickler? Or that nighty we were eyeing downtown. Whatever it is, bring it on, because I loved being in love with you and I want it back.

Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore on LOST

*SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*

Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore? Well, not really. But if Ben Ipkis (what was the last name again?) would have continued to show Jack a few more seconds of that 2004 World Series tape at the end of LOST tonight, they would have seen Jimmy and Drew filming "Fever Pitch."

I have to say, another 'eh' episode of LOST. The ending blew me away, just an awesome way to tie in the real world, but over all not too much was learned this week. Still, I'm confident that at the end of these six episodes we'll have our mind blown Anyway, here are my discussion starting questions.

1. Why have Sawyer and Kate crushing rocks? The whole thing seems completely futile.
2. What's up with Alex?
3. Why is Ben observing everyone in that weird room in the hydra hatch?
4. Are we lead to believe that bald Chang is the father of Sun's baby?
5. Are the others really bad guys? The girl on the boat sounded pretty convicing.
6. Which leads to Ben's last words to Jack. "We can get get you home." Can you? Jack makes a good point, if you've been there all your life, why stay? Must be a good reason.

We'll start there discussing episode 3.2 "The Glass Ballerina."

1:43 AM and no posts? Guess I'll start. Some people in my weekly group of Lost-watchers were disappointed in the season premiere. Some even said they'd flat-out lost faith. But "A Tale of Two Cities" gave me just what I was expecting (catching up with Jack, Kate, and Sawyer's situations) and then some (see above). Probably the most thrilling LOST scene since, well.. the last LOST scene we saw.

Questions:
- Is Ben/Henry Gale really "Him?" I've thought so all along, and now I'm pretty sure that even when Henry himself mentioned Him back in the hatch it was just a fear tactic.
- Is Juliette his ex?
- Could Juliette be either the second-in-command, or perhaps even higher up than Ben?
- What was troubling her in the opening scene?
- Jack hears his dad through the communications speaker. Merely hallucination?
- Is Mr. Friendly gay?
- Has Kate ever looked hotter than in her new dress?
- Who's the monkey boy in the other cage? You know those Others love plants...
- Does it mean anything that William Mapother (Ethan) wasn't billed as a guest actor, but a regular in the opening credits, while Harold Perrineau (Michael) is clearly absent?
- Will Matty Fox win an Emmy for this episode alone?

All's well in the Lost world if you ask me. In the coming 5-episode mini-series, I hope we stay on this side of the island. Even Locke and Desmond can wait.

LOST Toys to Debut at TRU Times Square

The exclusive signing event will take place at the Toys "R" Us International flagship store in New York City on Monday, November 6, from 4pm to 7pm.

During the event, a principal Lost cast member (to be announced) and McFarlane Toys' creative force and Spawn creator, Todd McFarlane will autograph purchases of Lost Series 1 action figures. This will be a ticketed event and details on the ticketing process will be announced at a later date here on Spawn.com. Autographs will be limited to Lost action figures.

McFarlane Toys' Lost Series 1 captures six compelling characters from the show's first season: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Locke, Charlie and Shannon. At long last, LOST returns for 6 episodes before going on some ridiculously-long hiatus and coming back early next year to round out the season. Will Desmond continue to be the coolest character on the show? Will Eko smack Locke? Will Hurley lose some weight? Will (Crazy) Michael and Walt return? Who knows!

All I have to say is that I hope to see this blog explode tomorrow night!

TV Guide reports that ABC's online game "The Lost Experience" revealed some of the island's secrets after the participants followed all the clues:

An unlocked video detailed how a mathematician was commissioned by the United Nations in 1962 to calculate the timetable for humanity's extinction. The resulting Valenzetti's Equation was based on factors represented by Egyptian hieroglyphics, each of which was assigned a numerical value: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42, aka what would become Hurley's cursed digits. Though the Hanso Foundation created the Dharma Initiative to stave off the forecast apocalypse, the foundation’s impatient acting president Dr. Thomas Mittelwerk is itching to unleash a virus that will snuff 30 percent of the world's population.

"There's some good stuff in this week's Lost podcast. In case you missed it, we learned: We can't say for sure that Desmond survived the season finale, but we'll definitely be seeing him again (Let's hope Locke and Eko are just as lucky!). Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse said when the show comes back in September, we'll understand the consequences of Desmond triggering the hatch's fail-safe and what that means in terms of the island. Apparently, the island was only visible to the outside world for a spilt second, but it was also visible on September 22, 2004 when Flight 815 crashed, so we'll find out how that affects the storyline. It sounds like we'll be getting more Desmond flashbacks and we'll find out why the Others wanted Jack, Kate and Sawyer, but not Hurley. In the first six episodes we'll learn where and what the Others call home, how Jack got his tattoos, why Locke was in the wheelchair and more about the main characters and their relationships. Apparently, relationships will be more important than mythology in season three, although they also revealed that the four-toed statue represents the history and archeology of the island and that we'll find out what happened on the island pre-Dharma days. Apparently, there were other Others around before the 1970s. Oh, and one more thing: We will see the smoke monster again, and I'm not sure what this means, but they said there may have been instances where we saw the smoke monster in season two, but didn't realize that's what it was."

It’s a plight that “Lost” fans know all too well – you tune in on a Wednesday night praying for a new episode only to find a random repeat from nearly a season earlier, or else a lengthy and unexpected clip show. ABC is hoping to eliminate that experience.
Following a format somewhat resembling Fox’s successful treatment of “24,” ABC revealed its new fall schedule on Tuesday, vowing to dramatically reduce “Lost” repeats. The plan calls for “Lost” to begin the season in its standard Wednesday 9 p.m. ET time slot, but just when the show would typically move into a rerun cycle in the winter, ABC has an alternative up its sleeve.
“We really wanted to just say to the audience, ‘Listen, it’s going to be on for this block here and then we’ll bring it back and it will run straight through,’” explains ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson. “So yes, the plan is that ‘Lost’ will come on in the fall in the first or second week of the season, run for seven episodes and then ‘Day Break’ will launch into that period and ‘Lost’ will come back in January or early February and run straight through for the remainder for the season.”
That way, instead of wondering why Shannon and Boone suddenly seem to be alive again and why the castaways are still scratching their heads over the contents of the mysterious hatch, viewers can follow Taye Diggs as he relives the same day over and over again trying to avoid being framed for murder.

Wednesday night, fans of ABC’s mysterious drama ”Lost” will be riveted, no doubt, when the principal villains make an expected appearance and two main characters get romantically involved.
Savor every detail. There won’t be another new episode this month.
To the dismay of many fans this season, the ”Lost” reruns just keep coming. Since September, ABC has broadcast 10 repeats and 19 original episodes, including Wednesday night’s. Next week, the show will be preempted for ”Alias,” and on April 26 ABC will broadcast a recap of the entire ”Lost” season.

The Claire episode was great, then the show lost its steam with weeks and weeks off. It came back last week with a Chang-centric episode that was so uneventful, no one even came on here to discuss it. This week however, oh man.

Talking points for the below comments section and yes SPOILERS ABOUND:
1. Was that Sayid's girlfriend that Locke checked the house for?
2. What the F was that map/chart/awesome thing written in hidden ink on the back of the blast door.
3. Who thought of stormtroopers when they called them blast doors?
4. Is Henry Gale an other who killed and took the hidden identity of a black man? How did he ever think that was going to work?
5. Why did the hatch lockdown? What was said on the intercom? And why isn't Locke dead after losing so much blood having a 6 inch metal spike through his leg?

Surprised no one has posted this yet, the news was kinda buried on AICN.

'Lost': Aronofsky will not direct

Fans of both the hit TV show Lost (which features a guy haunted by a sinister sequence of numbers) and indie filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (whose breakthrough film, Pi, was about a dude obsessed with devilish digits) will have to wait a bit longer to see if these two geek tastes can taste great together. The director has respectfully bowed out of helming one of the current season's remaining episodes due to scheduling conflicts. "The timing didn’t work out," Aronofsky tells us. "I’m expecting a child." (The mom-to-be, of course, is Oscar nominee Rachel Weisz.)

The director, who is putting the final touches on his long-awaited sci-fi drama The Fountain, is also prepping a new movie called Flicker, an adaptation of the cult novel. (There are also rumors that The Fountain is being strongly considered for a slot at the Cannes Film festival this spring.)

There are still hopes, however, that Aronofsky -- a big fan of the show -- will be able to direct an episode next season. Considering how Aronofsky drove Ellen Burstyn nutty with diet pills and a demonic fridge in Requiem for a Dream, just imagine what he could do with the washing machine and all that smack inside The Hatch. Be very afraid, indeed!

...we had a new episode airing next week? Instead, we get another 2 weeks of repeats. What's up wit dat, ABC?? Fuckin' it up, man.

Anyways, here're my personal highlights and questions from last night's rather revealing episode, "Maternity Leave":

-Rousseau's a good guy (for the time being, at least)! And so is Alex, the mysterious-yet-obviously-Rousseau's-daughter nurse!
-Speaking of Alex, do we believe she helped Claire because she herself was a captive, or do we think it was all just another crazy plan of "the others?"
-So Aaron WASN'T really sick, or at least managed to heal up. Thoughts on whether or not he's actually got the island's version of ebola, or if the *disease* even really exists?
-We know now that the medicine Desmond took from the Swan Hatch is the same stuff Ethan Rom pumped into Claire's preggers stomach. What's the connection? Sickness, or another one of Dharma's sick tests?
-Why the f isn't Sayid still torturing Henry Gale? And does anyone feel like the more he talks, the less we believe him?
-Eko's little confession to Henry Gale was a nice way to tie up what really happened to him the first night on the island, but who else was wishing he'd go to town on our new prisoner, Sayid-style?
-I liked the way the flashbacks were done in this ep. Claire's discovery was well-handled, and although I wish they had found a clue in the Hospital Mini-Hatch (my nickname for that abandoned facility) for why they were fuckin' around with Aaron, at least we know Zeke AKA Mr. Friendly was wearing a fake beard and "the others" dress up to look like island survivors. Wait -- what?? Why??
-I noticed how nicely dressed Zeke and Ethan Rom were in the Hospital Mini-Hatch -- think it's a clue to something other than the fact that "the others" are mildly civilized? Probably not, but what the heck...
-Zeke mentions "him." Thoughts on who (or what) that could be? Degroot? Hanso? The monster? God?
-Sounded like Ethan's original plan was to get the manifest, and THEN get Claire. So with that established, can we say "the others" have no idea how many people survived Flight 815?

Next new episode airs March 22nd, titled "The Whole Truth," and will be Jin/Sun-centric (or as I call them, "mom and dad"). Let's get those comments goin'!

Okay, I admit, I'm a sucker for twisty turny episodes of LOST where supporting characters are manipulated and lied to for the greater good of a grander scheme, so in my eyes, last night's The Long Con was a successful episode, following last last week's boring and redundant Fire + Water. Here are some quickies:

-"Sawyer as a bad guy" is way better than "Sawyer the innocent bystander who got shot in the arm. " Although I like his redeeming qualities, Sawyer's right: people don't just change their ways. Conning is what he does best, and in a strange way, I feel safer knowing that Sawyer has the guns and not Loose-Cannon Locke (remember, the guy was in anger management in his "past life"...).
-I think Hurley referencing time displacement in the scene with Sayid and the radio is enough proof to say that the "time out of place" theory is likely not going to play out. I'm no longer considering this a lead in the investigation of LOST Island.
-Tokyo Rose, LooLoo, the imagery of Jack riding Kate's horse with a big white hat.
-I definitely didn't expect Charlie to be involved!
-Nish pointed this out: the waitress in the diner scene was Kate's now-dead mother, right?
-Did Charlie take the heroin that Sawyer brought for him as payment? Or was he satisfied with making Locke look like an old fool?
-Does anyone care where the hell Michael is?
-When is Kate going to kick AnaL's ass? Does the phrase "AnaL's ass" make you laugh?
-Whatever happened to the huge cliffhanger episode endings? What's the point of extending the episode 4 minutes if it's not for dropping a bomb at the end?

Podcast Updates

For those of you who don't listen, Carlton and Damon confirmed a couple tidbits in this week's podcast:

1.) Randy The Bastard Boss from Locke's "box company" is, in fact, the same Randy who was Hurley's boss at the Chicken Shack (or whatever it's called). Carlton claims the backstory is that since Hurley felt bad for the meteor hitting the Chicken Shack due to his bad luck, he felt he was responsible and gave his old boss Randy a job at his newly-acquired box company, the very box company that Locke was employed at in Walkabout.

2.) The "important building" in Fire + Water (the power plant referenced in an earlier post) has been clarified. There is a sign on the building that, although very difficult to see from screenshots, reads "Widmore Construction," a company that will be important in later episodes. Still unclear whether or not it has any connection with the Hanso Foundation or the Dharma Initiative.

3.) This isn't fully confirmed, but the producers hinted that Alex -- Rousseau's DAUGHTER -- may very well be the same Alex who handed off a captured Kate to Zeke (or as the producers call him, "Mr. Friendly") in the episode where Jack, Locke, and Sawyer go searching for Michael.

A source tells Hot Stuff that the actress, 27, who plays tough Ana Lucia, has become increasingly difficult on the set — and execs are eager to kill her character. “The producers are fed up with the fact that she barely shows up to the set and is always in a bad mood,” the source says. “They said she was getting killed off as soon as they could write it in.” Still, another source denies Rodriguez has any attitude, saying, “She’s very friendly.” A rep for ABC declined to comment, but the actress’ personal rep tells Us, “Michelle is very proud of her work.” The rep, however, wouldn’t reveal Ana Lucia’s fate. OK, I've posted 3 pics here. 1st one is from Lost Season 2, Episode 12. 2nd we have the Pink Floyd album cover for Animals. And 3rd we have the building that is presented in both the first 2 pics. I have no idea of the significance on the building. But I have been doing some research on it. Its actually a power plant. The real importance of the 1st pic we all are probably looking at is the picture between the 2 towers or smoke stacks. But maybe there is more besides the picture. Maybe something about the building? I don't know but I'll provide a link with info on this power plant and you guys read about it and see if there is any relevance to Lost.

Here's an interesting blurb I found randomly on the ABC boards. This guy basically took the ideas hinted at on the Hanso website (where they list all the various projects going on) and parallels them to real-world research:

Whether you believe what I have to say is connected to the show or not, I think you will at least find some of the information.....enlightning...Earlier I had posted a few subjects but they are out of order and completely in disarray, so I will try to give this Thread some sort of fluidity. I will start off by listing ideas to the 6 subjects the Dharma Initiative is persuing........

The Dharma Initiative was created in 1970, and is the brainchild of Gerald and Karen Degroot, two doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan. Following in the footsteps of visionaries such as B.F. Skinner…. imagined a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free-thinkers from around the globe could persue research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism and utopian social… reclusive Danish industrialist and munitions magnate Alvar Hanso, whose financial backing made their dream
of a multi-purpose social science research facility a reality..

You and your partner are currently located at Station 3, or ‘The Swan,’ and will be for the next five-hundred and forty days. Station 3 was originally constructed as a laboratory where scientists could work to understand the unique electromagnetic fluctuations eminating from this sector of the island. Not long after the experiments began, however, there was… an incident… and since that time, the following protocol has been observed. Every one-hundred and eight minutes, the button must be pushed. From the moment the alarm sounds, you will have four minutes to enter the code into the microcomputer process… –duction into the program. When the alarm sounds, either you or your partner must input the code. It is highly recommended that you and your partner take alternating shifts. In this manner, you will both stay as fresh and alert… most important that, when the alarm sounds, the code be entered correctly and in a timely fashion. Meteorology

HAARP stands for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) which is an investigation project to "understand, simulate and control ionospheric processes that might alter the performance of communication and surveillance systems". Started in 1993, the project is proposed to last for a period of twenty years.

The project is jointly funded by US Air Force, Navy, and University of Alaska. It is said that the project is similar to numerous existing ionospheric heaters around the world, and has a large suite of diagnostic instruments that facilitate its use to increase scientific understanding of ionospheric dynamics. Though many have expressed fears of HAARP being used as a nefarious weapon, the scientists involved in aeronomy, space science, or plasma physics dismiss these fears as unfounded. However, it is my belief these fears are not unfounded and this program may well be the next step to dharmageddon.

The mental-disruption possibilities for HAARP are the most disturbing. More than 40 pages of documents, with dozens of footnotes, chronicle the work of Harvard professors, military planners and scientists as they plan and test this use of the electromagnetic technology. For example, one of the papers describing this use was from the International Red Cross in Geneva. It even gave the frequency ranges where these effects could occur -- the same ranges which HAARP is capable of broadcasting.

The following statement was made more than twenty-five years ago, in a book by Zbigniew Brzezinski which he wrote while a professor at Columbia University:

"Political strategists are tempted to exploit research on the brain and human behavior. Geophysicist Gordon J. F.MacDonald -- specialist in problems of warfare -- says accurately-timed, artificially-excited electronic strokes 'could lead to a pattern of oscillations that produce relatively high power levels over certain regions of the earth...In this way, one could develop a system that would seriously impair the brain performance of very large populations in selected regions over an extended period'...No matter how deeply disturbing the thought of using the environment to manipulate behavior for national advantages , to some, the technology permitting such use will very probably develop within the next few decades."

In another document prepared by the government, the U.S. Air Force claims:

"The potential applications of artificial electromagnetic fields are wide-ranging and can be used in many military or quasi-military situations...Some of these potential uses include dealing with terrorist groups, crowd control, controlling breaches of security at military installations, and antipersonnel techniques in tactical warfare. In all of these cases the EM (electromagnetic) systems would be used to produce mild to severe physiological disruption or perceptual distortion or disorientation. In addition, the ability of individuals to function could be degraded to such a point that they would be combat ineffective. Another advantage of electromagnetic systems is that they can provide coverage over large areas with a single system. They are silent and countermeasures to them may be difficult to develop... One last area where electromagnetic radiation may prove of some value is in enhancing abilities of individuals for anomalous phenomena."

Another "use" of HAARP is its weather control systems. The military has had about twenty years to work on weather warfare methods, which it euphemistically calls weather modification. For example, rainmaking technology was taken for a few test rides in Vietnam. The U.S. Department of Defense sampled lightning and hurricane manipulation studies in Project Skyfire and Project Stormfury. And they looked at some complicated technologies that would give big effects. Angels Don't Play This HAARP cites an expert who says the military studied both lasers and chemicals which they figured could damage the ozone layer over an enemy. Looking at ways to cause earthquakes, as well as to detect them, was part of the project named Prime Argus, decades ago. The money for that came from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA, now under the acronym ARPA.) Close to something we have heard of, no?

David Yarrow of Albany, New York, is a researcher with a background in electronics. He described possible interactions of HAARP radiations with the ionosphere and Earth's magnetic grid:

"HAARP will not burn 'holes' in the ionosphere. That is a dangerous understatement of what HAARP's giant gigawatt beam will do. Earth is spinning relative to thin electric shells of the multilayer membrane of 'ion-o-speres' that absorb and shield Earth's surface from intense solar radiation, including charged particle storms in solar winds erupting from the sun. Earth's axial spin means that HAARP -- in a burst lasting more than a few minutes -- will slice through the ionosphere like a microwave knife. This produces not a 'hole', but a long tear -- an incision."

The arrogance of the United States government in this is not without precedent. Atmospheric nuclear tests had similar goals. More recently, China and France put their people's money to destructive use in underground nuclear tests. It was recently reported that the US government spent $3 trillion dollars on its nuclear program since its beginnings in the 1940's. What new breakthroughs in life science could have been made with all the money spent on death? Today, a number of new tools for the "elite" are emerging, and the temptation to use them increases steadily. The policies to permit the tools to be used are already in place. The United States is being changed, bit by bit, into the predicted highly-controlled technosociety. And if there is doubt that we are not using this system,

Alex, Ivan, Frances, Charley and Jeanne (August-September 2004): Four destructive hurricanes and a tropical rain storm occur in a sequence, within a short period of time. Unprecedented in hurricane history in the Caribbean, the island of Grenada is completely devastated: 37 people died and roughly two-thirds of the island's 100,000 inhabitants have been left homeless, in Haiti, more than two thousand people have died and tens of thousands have been made homeless. The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas have also been devastated.

Brazil March 2004: The first-ever hurricane formed in the South Atlantic, striking Brazil with 90 mph winds and causing up to a dozen deaths. "Meteorologists were left scratching their heads in bewilderment as the familiar swirl of clouds, complete with a well-defined eye, appeared in an oceanic basin where none had been spotted before."

India, early 2003: a pre-monsoon heat wave caused peak temperatures of between 45 and 49 degrees Celsius (113 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit), killing more than 1400 people.

In 1999, Iraq suffered its worst drought of the century, with the effect of triggering an even greater dependence on imported grain under the oil for food program. There was a drop of up to 70 percent in domestic yields of wheat, barley and other cereals, which served to further weaken the country's economy, crippled by economic sanctions and the routine bombing by allied aircraft in the no-fly zones.

A similar (although less serious) situation prevailed in Syria and Iran, marked by significant declines in agricultural output. Not to even mention the well known Tsunami that killed 10s of thousands.

Anywho. Just remember these things, draw your own coclusions, and again I will post what I think is going on. Do I think the island has a massive station like HAARP? No. But I do the weather is being controlled by some sort of technological achievement. It could explain the cognitive dysfuntions(whispers, hallucinations, sickness?) and it could also be the same reason that just about everytime the see the Security system(which I will post in misc later) it is raining.

Electromagnetism

According to modern science, everything in the known universe owes its existence to three basic energies or forces: electromagnetism, nuclear forces and gravity. Whether these three are separate forces, or whether they are manifestations of some more basic unifying force is still a matter of conjecture. Even establishment science does not question the patently obvious relationship between electricity and magnetism, but the relationship of these two fields to the "gravity field" constitutes an area physics, which, more than twenty years after Einstein's death, was still largely incomprehensible to modern science. These gravity fields are thought to create a state of perpetual energy that could power high tech equipment, including UFO's

The most illuminating insight into how UFO's are powered can be found in the life and work of an obscure but brilliant American scientist and inventor, Thomas Townsend Brown.
Brown was an early investigator of UFOs and in 1956 helped found the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). Though Townsend resigned not long after NICAP was founded, NICAP was an influential force in civilian UFO research through 1970. The organization's activities drew the attention of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), several high-level officers of which joined the group. Brown Figured out a way to create a gravity field, but he needed a way to harness it.

A "dielectric" is defined as a material which has the unique ability of absorbing electrical energy or "charge" without ordinarily passing this energy on to neighboring materials. Some dielectrics are able to absorb enormous quantities of electrical energy (also referred to as "elastic stress") without discharging, providing that the energy is fed into the dielectric slowly and at low potential. Still others can be charged at extremely high potential at a rate equal to several thousand times each second. Townsend Brown concerned himself principally with this latter type. Using just such a dielectric, Brown constructed disc (or saucer) shaped condensers, and, by applying various amounts of high voltage direct current, witnessed the Biefeld-Brown effect in action. With the proper construction and electrical potential (in the kilovolt range) the disc-shaped "airfoils" were made to fly under their own power, emitting a slight hum and a bluish electrical glow as they did so. More scientifically, perhaps, this process of "flight" might best be described as "motion under the influence of interaction between electrical and gravitational fields in the direction of the positive electrode." In 1953, Brown succeeded in demonstrating, in his laboratories, the flight of disc-shaped air foils two feet in diameter around a circular course twenty feet in diameter. The process involved tethering these saucer-shaped craft to a central pole by means of a wire through which the necessary D.C. electrical potential was supplied at a rate of fifty thousand volts with a continuous input of fifty watts. The tests produced an observable top speed of an amazing seventeen feet per-second (11.5 miles per hour). At least, such is the case officially, although there exists sufficient reason to suspect that there may have been significant advancements in this area which are still well hidden under that proverbial "brass lid" emblazoned with the phrase "Top Secret." Other tests were conducted and he was very successful in later experiments. Information which is easily accessed on the net. Also, many experiments were being conducted in this area of the world at the apex of Brown's discoveries. As well as Uri Gagarin, there is a satellite called Argos or 'Swan' that orbits every 108 minutes.

Since the truth about electropropulsion is based on "ether" (A.K.A. "aether") physics, which has been collected, hidden away, or declared "national security secrets", or intentionally obliterated by false propaganda which is so intense that the general public remains unaware of the facts which are right under their noses. The high priests of this occult knowledge are the elite owners of the coercive monopolist corporate banking, industrial, mineral and related interests, who in turn allow the initiation of certain scientists, military and government officials into their secret teachings only insofar as it is necessary, to execute and maintain a conspiracy of giant proportions, so that the technology can be classified as a "state secret" which can be controlled and enforced by means of unconstitutional "national security laws", military and civilian legal authority, and police. These measures are intended to protect the archaic technology and resources controlled by the elite, from the competition of a truly free market society.

II. Superconducting Supercollider (SSC) in Texas

The SSC would be a huge, highly complex machine. It would consist of an oval, underground tunnel some 54 miles in circumference--or roughly the size of the Beltway surrounding Washington, D.C.--and approximately 12 feet in diameter. Two streams of protons would be accelerated around the loop in opposite directions. The particles within those two beams would reach almost the speed of light before being smashed together within huge detector chambers. There would be about 100 million separate collisions per second.(5) The energies generated by the intended subatomic particle collisions are to approach 40 trillion electron volts--more than 10 times the energy generated by any existing accelerator.(6) The particle collisions are expected to mimic the conditions that prevailed at the creation of the universe. Scientists hope to record the resulting smaller particles and bursts of energy and study them for clues to the fundamental structure of all matter. The ultimate benefits to society are not fully known at this time; however, from experience we know that there will be large payoffs. When the basic secrets of electricity and magnetism were discovered in the 19th century, the consequences -- electric lights, air conditioners, worldwide communications, and computers -- were unforeseeable. It does not take a leap of faith to conclude that discoveries with the SSC may produce even more profound changes and adaptations of the world around us in the future; rather it would be extraordinary if it did not.

The story goes that, following a demonstration of the new miracle of electricity in 1831; Faraday was asked, "What use is it?" He responded, "Sir, of what use is a newborn babe?"

The SSC would have been be the world's largest and most powerful high-energy particle accelerator and could help to unlock the puzzle of the fundamental nature of matter. Government funding is said to be essential because the SSC would be used for "pure" research--trying to advance man's general scientific knowledge. The project was cancelled due to lack of funding and general interest by congress.

Relevancy?? Well the SSC and a "new" particle accelerator is being built using Hadron Elektron Ring Anlage (HERA) magnets. These magnets must readjust or reinject every so often. That every so often just happens to be every 107 minutes and it also happens to be that if the particle misses this step in the process in could cause a potential explosion or "incident". It only needs to be reinjected around this time. Thus we have the blast doors, thus we have a 108 minute timer with a minute leeway. This also may send out a signal to a satellite that then beams the info somewhere else as stated earlier. But I will get into all that fun stuff later. Also, another tidbit of info: In next few decades, the possibility of black hole production at the highest energy accelerators may arise, if certain predictions of superstring theory are accurate . If they are produced, it is thought that black holes would evaporate extremely quickly via Hawking radiation. However, the existence of Hawking radiation is controversial. It is also thought that an analogy between colliders and cosmic rays demonstrates collider safety. If colliders can produce black holes, cosmic rays should have been producing them for aeons, and they have yet to harm us. However, this is also controversial. Models in which colliders cause trouble and cosmic rays do not have been proposed.

Zoology

I really have no basic theory on these animals except there main purpose was to provide a body for experiments. These experiments can range from aging to a certain creature growing opposable thumbs and wielding a machine gun(just kidding). Ill start with aging.

The species furthest from us are prokaryotic microorganisms . Bacteria, for instance, are unicellular organisms that reproduce by cell division or fission; normally a mother cell divides into two equal daughter cells (Brock, 1997). Since we cannot distinguish between progenitor and offspring it appears that these organisms do not age; presumably, these cells have the ability to divide eternally without loss of viability caused by intrinsic factors. Protected from violent death, bacteria are essentially immortal.

Senescence-In biology, senescence is the state or process of aging which follows the period of development. For the social, cultural, and economic aspects see aging.

Sharks are often claimed to show no senescence or cancer. Sharks definitely do get cancer. However, they get it far less often than humans do. The idea that sharks are immune to cancer was popularized by the title of William Lane's 1992 book Sharks Don't Get Cancer. However, inside his book Lane admitted that sharks do get cancer. it is theorized that shark cartilage might inhibit the growth of tumor blood vessels.

Although it is too early to be talking seriously about a fountain of youth, I believe that hormones X and Y represent the first steps toward unravelling the mystery of why certain organisms and tissues age. Unlike melatonin, the compounds that I have synthesised represent the first patentable drugs that actually have the potential of reversing or at least slowing the much-dreaded biological clock. They are the first non-steroidal, non-proteinaceous, non-retinoid hormonally active substances other than melatonin and thyroid hormone known to affect cell growth and differentiation in higher animals.
Furthermore, I have discovered that analogues of both hormones X and Y exist in nature and can be prepared, for example, from certain plants. These substances can be incorporated into over-the-counter products such as cosmetics and vitamin preparations without the difficulty of surmounting regulatory hurdles. The impact, for instance, of a wrinkle cream which actually thickens the skin and returns cell turnover rates to levels found in a twenty-year-old should be obvious, especially since today's cosmetic preparations are mainly designed to cover up the effects of ageing.

This leads me to question whether ancient legends of fantastic life span for humans may not have a basis in reality. For example, thousands of years prior to the biblical era, a Sumerian legend relates the tale of a hero-type figure by the name of Gilgamesh who travelled far and wide in his quest for eternal life. He finally found a plant growing under water that was able to bestow the immortality that Gilgamesh sought. As the tale goes, however, instead of consuming the plant, he fell asleep. During his slumber, a snake ate the plant—hence the mythological explanation for snakes constantly shedding and renewing their skin. The moral lesson of the story is, I suppose, "you snooze, you lose". Due to Gilgamesh's carelessness, humankind was denied the secret of eternal life.2 Alas, mythological descriptions of the "plant," if that is what it was, are not sufficient to make a positive identification.

I could go further into detail with zoology, but I just dont think enough evidence has been shown for any relevant animals besides the shark. Although, what most people dont realize is that it is feasible that humans COULD live forever. The only things to really contribute to death are outside factors. Pollutants, falling, getting shot, disease..etc...If these were eliminated from the environment then it would be possible to immootalize yourself. Of course, then u wouls need soe sort of utopian society..

Parapsychology

Ok. In this portion, I will admit most of what I am going to say/type is completely theoretical and is also shunned by most of the scientific community. However, there have been too many instances and too mant recorded black ops incidents to discount everything. Those that believe in paranormal psychology believe as strongly about it as christians do about god. Just because it is not "proven" or relevant to you, does not mean it doesnt exist. We also know that this is a subject in the video and you better believe they will delve into it. Even the writers said everything will have a pseudoscientific explanation.

The word "clairvoyance" means "clear-sighted," or the ability to see in the invisible (to physical vision) worlds. It is a faculty latent in all and will eventually be possessed by every human being in the course of his or her spiritual unfoldment. Having acquired this spiritual sight, one may then investigate for himself or herself such matters as the state of the human Spirit before birth and after death, and life in the invisible worlds. Clairvoyance is closely linked to 'remote viewing' and was used during the Cold War to spy on Soviet military bases. In some instances the psychics working with the CIA were asked to spy on Soviet military bases in their dreams. They had many remarkable successes and were able to provide verifiable information about the chosen targets. One of these programs was named Stargate that was followed by a sad..sad..tv show. In addition to these various types of clairvoyants, all children are clairvoyant, at least during the first year of life. How long the child will keep its faculty depends upon its spirituality and also upon its environment, because most children communicate all they see to their elders and the faculty of clairvoyance is affected by their attitude. Often children are ridiculed for telling of things that, their elders believe, can only be the result of "imagination," and they soon learn to shut out scenes with engender such ridicule, or at least to keep these things to themselves.

Stargate had three components: one attempted to track other countries' psychic warfare projects; another provided six (later only three) "remote viewers" to any government agency desiring to use them; and the third continued the laboratory research initiated at SRI (and subsequently transferred to another think-tank at Palo Alto, California, called Science Applications International Corporation) .The term remote viewing was coined by Harold Puthoff who, with his colleague Russell Targ, ran the psi project at SRI. The alleged ability to see distantly using psi is known as clairvoyance ("clear seeing"). But that term seemed dated and loaded with undesirable connotations, evoking gypsy fortunetellers, spiritualist mediums, and flaky visionaries. Instead, Targ and Puthoff experimented with more modernesque, technological-sounding terms, until Puthoff's "remote viewing" caught on. (Targ has suggested "remote sensing" would be more accurate because other senses than sight may supposedly be involved.) Remote viewing (RV) is actually a more specific term than clairvoyance, describing a particular type of alleged psychic sensing called "traveling clairvoyance" or, alternately, "telesthesia." As distinguished from some other types of clairvoyance such as retrocognitive and precognitive perception (alleged past and future sensing, respectively), remote viewing describes "seeing remote or hidden objects clairvoyantly with the inner eye, or in alleged out-of-body travel." Said to be "one of the oldest and most common forms of psi," it is also "one of the most difficult to explain"

Theoretically, in order to achieve clairvoyance, it is necessary to establish the connection of the pineal gland and the pituitary body with the cerebrospinal nervous system, and to reawaken the pituitary body and the pineal gland. When that is accomplished, man will again possess the faculty of perception in the higher worlds, but on a grander scale than it was in the distant past, because it will be in connection with the voluntary nervous system and therefore under the control of his will. Through this inner perceptive faculty all avenues of knowledge will be opened to him and he or she will have at his or her service a means of acquiring information compared with which all other methods of investigation are but child's play.

Many researchers and those with alleged ability to remotely view have a few things in common. When the dream, or transcend this world, they all speak of a silver cord, that acts as an umbilical cord. In these "dreams" it allows the viewer to easily trace there way back.The Bible describes people as being "in the spirit" while receiving prophecy. Many biblical scholars attribute this to being in a dream-like state or trance. The terminology of astral projection is also found in Ecclesiastes 12:6-12:7:

"Remember [your Creator] — before the silver cord is severed,
or the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
or the wheel broken at the well,
and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it."

Projectors claim they can (at will or otherwise) see a silver cord linking their astral form to their physical body. This cord mainly appears to a beginning projector as assurance they will not become lost. However, even experienced projectors find it useful, claiming it is a fast way to return to the body. If the silver cord is severed during life, as a rare form of suicide or naturally by death, projectors believe one returns to the astral as one of eight phases of death, ending either in one's shard of spirit being returned to God or by rebirth. Otherwise, projectors, clairvoyants and spiritualists describe the seventh, or crown chakra as a golden bowl, which is said to shatter at death, especially in a rare form of death caused by a kundalini surge.

Again the connections are rather easy to see. Most who practice clairvoyance do so in reference to hindu beliefs. DHARMA/Chakra/the number 108. 108 is considered very Holy, some other sutle things that I have noticed. Hanso and/or Hanso Foundation. Well in Hindi, Sanskrit and most of the other Indian Language; Hans (Pronounced Hunce) means Swan. Swan is the Logo they use on the Dharma Institute. And thinking from that I derived Lufthansa. If you break it is Luft Hansa, which I would think means Lofted Swan.(Hence the Gold Swan Logo) It is rumored that the Germans stole the some ancient Hindu texts and integrated in their life. i.e. Hitler with the slanted Swastikas, which is very holy in the Hindu Religion. So I see there is a fusion of European and Ancient Hinduism. If this turns out our theories are wrong and it was just mere coincidence, then that itself is creepy.

Misc.

Number Stations

For those of you who do not know, number stations use shortwave radio bursts to trassmit messages. Eventually, if listeners dig around long enough, they'll tune across voices reciting endless strings of numbers. These broadcasts have been heard for at least 40 years. The signals are powerful, but they contain no information about the location of the transmitter or the intended audience. Most listeners linger for a short time, then tune away, utterly baffled. The stations broadcast in a variety of formats (three, four, and five digits, etc.) in languages ranging from English and Spanish to Czech, Korean, and Serbo-Croatian. The voice is often female or child-like and its unchanging inflection suggests that it may be machine-generated, like those wrong-number recordings used by the phone company.

In Episode 18 of "Lost," two sets of people - Leonard and his Navy partners and Rosseau and her team - hear a transmission from a radio tower on Lost Island in the middle of the Pacific. They date this transmission to 16 years ago, which happens to be just before the fall of the Berlin wall and the end of the Cold War. You can pick up shortwave broadcasts over great distances. So even if they weren't being broadcast in the middle of the Pacific, they might have been audible there. Conveniently, J.J. Abrahms' other show, "Alias," has a lot to do with spies. In the show, a 15th century inventory Milo Rambaldi is often riffed upon. One of Rambaldi's inventions was a music box that encodes a series of numbers that describe a zero energy fuel source.

What are the signifigance of these numbers and why are they important? The numbers themselves bear no real signifigance. However, the purpose of the numbers are very important. We all know that every 108 minutes the numbers are keyed in to an archaic Apple 2 resulting in the timer resetting. So, basically every hour and 48 minutes someone has to be at the terminal to key the numbers in. Why 108 minutes you ask. Lets delve further.

It was 108 minutes on April 12, 1961 that made the difference to Yuri Gagarin and the world -- the time it took for the first man in space to complete his historic dash around the globe and blaze a trail to the stars. IS this connected? When Jack asked Desmond what he was training for, Desmond replied " A race around the world. Impressive, I know. So your excuse better be good, brother. Yuri's flight was always referred to as "The Race Round The World". Another thing, When Jack and Desmond depart, Desmond tells him this, See you in another life. That is exactly what Yuri told his wife and friends before he left for stars.

So, does this reference have any larger meaning than a few matching quotes? Yes. However, I cant really delve into that because it will get me into another larger post and I dont want to post it if no one is interested in the first place. So, respond and let me know if you are interested because in gets a hell of lot more in depth. Im not pretending that I know what the writers are going to do...exactly. But I think know what they have based most of their plot lines on. By the way, if you are interested in number stations, and you should be, there are plenty of sites out there that will let you listen to the broadcasts. Freaky stuff!

The Best Show on TV

So at work my boss and I did our top 10 shows of 2005 - obviously LOST was on it. When ranking them, I was very set saying that Lost should be #1. She disagreed, even though she had never watched it. I gave her the DVD, she said it was good, but not brilliant. I told her to give me another show that was better, she didn't. So finally she said, "Ok, what you wrote wasn't persuasive enough, you have one more shot. Convince me it's the best show on TV." So I wrote the following:

What’s in the hatch? This past summer, that was the question on everyone’s lips as the Season 1 finale of “Lost” ended with a cliffhanger mystery on par with “Who Shot J.R.?” And in classic “Lost” fashion, when we finally found out the answer, a whole new series of questions arose that no one knew existed. It’s this complexity, along with a stellar cast, production values, and a rabid online presence that make “Lost” one of the best show on television.
Lost isn’t only the best show on TV because it takes a simple premise and lets it explode with possibility. It’s the blueprint for a cross media experience unique to the 21st century.
A plane crashes on an island and there are survivors. So what? Unlike any show on TV, Lost’s mystery is a mystery unto itself. We’re almost forced to tune in because we have no idea what is happening on this island except there are “Others,” random animals, a killer black smoke, a hatch with a button that must be pressed every 108 minutes and oh yeah, a whole other group of survivors on the other side of the island that gives the mystery a whole other angle. What began as “where are we” has quickly evolved into “why are we here?” and will probably change again.
Before the show began, none of the actors were big stars, now they are all recognizable. The directing is done with a feature film quality to an extent that co-creator and pilot director J.J. Abrams is doing “Mission Impossible III and “Requiem for a Dream” director Darren Aronosky has signed to do some episodes. Each episode is character-centric, simultaneously giving a history of a castaway and forwarding/enriching the present time on the island. And finally, the show is an OCD patient’s nightmare with twists that come back and forth and have forced legion of fans to freeze frame entire episodes looking for clues. And find them. And it’s not afraid to kill off a main character here and there either.
With various plot-thickening official web sites online, books and webisodes on the way, Lost’s TV presence is only the beginning of its possibilities. It’s unique from every other show on television.

Looks like I won. And this will probably be our #1 of the year.

Aside from the Gilgamesh illusion (42 down, natch), is there anything else anyone can find in Locke's crossword puzzle? I looked up ETE (26 down), which has been cited as an anagram for Electronic Training Environment, Engineering Test Equipment, and Environmental Test Engineering.

And is it just me, or do some of these words make absolutely no sense? Sure, crosswords use combination clues (like "a man" = "aman"), but nonetheless, "acolins," "alain, " and "ghare" aren't in the dictionary. I guess Locke has to have a few flaws, like being bad at crosswords.

Embarassingly sloppy continuity error, or a clue?

My latest hunch: There are more film clips in the other 4 bunkers/hatches (representing the other, undiscussed jump cuts in the Orientation film), and that the film was never originally made that way: It's all a game to see if they'll put it together and actually believe it.

Michelle Rodriguez (aka MANaLucia) and Cynthis Watros (aka Libby) were both arrested in Hawaii late last night within 15 minutes of one another for DUI charges. They were in separate cars but were apparently swerving on the same highway when they were pulled over.

This pic might not be the best but if you watch this part again you can see the hand move and then the horse's head. Poor editing perhaps, or maybe Sawyer and Kate didn't see the "other" who owned this horse.

I caught wind of this idea on a message board but have been fleshing it out on my own. Eko and Locke. Reverse one of their names and see the other. "One is white, one is black." Or, better yet, Canada's promos. In the Canadian preview for tonight's episode, Canuck's are treated to a scene involving Kate, Kate's lips and.... someone else.... in the present day.

I know there's been a lot of hype about tonight's episode because Kate's "original crime" will be revealed. Am I to assume then that the bank robbery occurs AFTER this crime? I know they've been doing a lot of jumping around with repeat backstories, can someone help me with a Kate timeline?

And if history has been any indication, I foresee Kate wearing a bad rug tonight in her backstory.

so I don't know if you guys have noticed the lost podcast, can't see how you wouldn't have, but check it out, the guy who hosts it is an airmack, but the writers are on it almost every episode and the newest one has some hints about tonight's show.

Unlike other tv show (*ahem* FOX) podcasts it's worth putting on in the car or on a jog or something.

Where to begin?

MAN-alucia has a heart after all. Who knew?

I still don't get why they call him Mr. Ecko. Did I miss something?

Could go on for hours about how perfectly they captured their deterioration... I mean, that scene on the beach when they have the argument about whether or not to stay on the beach or go to the jungle is almost identical to the one that our friends in the front half of the plane had. Analucia emerges as the Jack of the Back (copyright). But then it all goes to shit.

Analucia and Goodwin on the hill.... Never has the act of sharing apple slices been so tense. Great dialogue, incredible suspenseful, and I love that they didn't add cheesy music in the background to heighten the moment. We all knew all hell was about to break loose. It only made it that much more intense. Great scene.

So what more have we learned about the Others? Most importantly, I think it's that they're taking "good" people and claim that they're "better off" with them. And they know who these people were before they crashed. Interesting.

Boone on the radio. Completely forgot about that detail. Awesome.

Theories on the glass eye and Bible?

I don't know about the Libby theory... If there were more to her, I think this episode is where they would have laid the groundwork. Didn't see any.

And we have our definitive answers. Shannon's dead. Analucia killed her. Sawyer beatdown to follow.

Tonight's "Extended" Episode...

And for those of you who don't watch the previews for the upcoming episode, this week's "tailie" episode is billed as an "extended" episode. Although prior inquiries have led me to believe that the episode is 90 minutes, TV Guide says it's only an extra 5 minutes longer.

I'm sure the internet boards are crackling with news of this, but Libby, the seemingly sympathetic member of the Tailies, has a lot of circumstantial evidence surrounding her. The whole story is here.....

A) I'm upset and emo, so I'm keeping this short and sweet.

B) After the episode, our whole gang wondered if Shannon will really die or not. What if the whole "one of these survivors will be lost forever" was referring to Cindy, the chick who vanished presumably via the Others. Think about it - Shannon did not die on screen tonight. Nor was it exactly clear (ie emotionally played up, at least as much as Boone's death scene) that she died. It would not be unlike Lost for that preview to have been a little tricky. Food for thought, or wishful thinking, you decide.

C) Someone also wondered if there will be a little too much for the doctor to handle when Sawyer and Shannon both get back to camp needing medical attention.

D) Meredith, I looked back and saw that you did read the November spoiler about Shannon. Why did you reply to my text with "Shannon" before the show when you knew I hadn't read the spoiler?

Sam, who can't wait for Sayid to kill Annalucia.

Doctors or Others or Both?

I was just curious to see what everyone else's take was on this. If you look at the pic from "orientation," you see the 2 doctors, Karen and Gerald DeGroot (spelling), a female with blond hair and a male with a big beard. In the episode "Exodus Part 2," you also see a bearded man, and in the background you see this blond haired female. Could this possibly be the DeGroots? If you go to lostmedia.com you can make the pics bigger and try and look closely. I feel like the girl is made to stand out more than the other 2 passengers on the boat. Why? No clue, but the only thing I can think of is that she's a key player in this whole thing.

Now where do I go from here? Ok, I believe this husband and wife duo are part of the others. I believe what they are trying to do is take these children and run their experiments on them. Why you ask? I don't know, it could be a number of things, cure a disease, try out a mutated gene or some shit, they dropped a stethoscope in a hole only big enough for children to fit in; but the DeGroots are definitely behind this I tell you! Mark my words!
