Don't You Wish...

Nice gla, sses.

...we had a new episode airing next week? Instead, we get another 2 weeks of repeats. What's up wit dat, ABC?? Fuckin' it up, man.

Anyways, here're my personal highlights and questions from last night's rather revealing episode, "Maternity Leave":

-Rousseau's a good guy (for the time being, at least)! And so is Alex, the mysterious-yet-obviously-Rousseau's-daughter nurse!
-Speaking of Alex, do we believe she helped Claire because she herself was a captive, or do we think it was all just another crazy plan of "the others?"
-So Aaron WASN'T really sick, or at least managed to heal up. Thoughts on whether or not he's actually got the island's version of ebola, or if the *disease* even really exists?
-We know now that the medicine Desmond took from the Swan Hatch is the same stuff Ethan Rom pumped into Claire's preggers stomach. What's the connection? Sickness, or another one of Dharma's sick tests?
-Why the f isn't Sayid still torturing Henry Gale? And does anyone feel like the more he talks, the less we believe him?
-Eko's little confession to Henry Gale was a nice way to tie up what really happened to him the first night on the island, but who else was wishing he'd go to town on our new prisoner, Sayid-style?
-I liked the way the flashbacks were done in this ep. Claire's discovery was well-handled, and although I wish they had found a clue in the Hospital Mini-Hatch (my nickname for that abandoned facility) for why they were fuckin' around with Aaron, at least we know Zeke AKA Mr. Friendly was wearing a fake beard and "the others" dress up to look like island survivors. Wait -- what?? Why??
-I noticed how nicely dressed Zeke and Ethan Rom were in the Hospital Mini-Hatch -- think it's a clue to something other than the fact that "the others" are mildly civilized? Probably not, but what the heck...
-Zeke mentions "him." Thoughts on who (or what) that could be? Degroot? Hanso? The monster? God?
-Sounded like Ethan's original plan was to get the manifest, and THEN get Claire. So with that established, can we say "the others" have no idea how many people survived Flight 815?

Next new episode airs March 22nd, titled "The Whole Truth," and will be Jin/Sun-centric (or as I call them, "mom and dad"). Let's get those comments goin'!

Chang, great analysis. I don't really have anything to comment on per se, cause you did a nice job summing that shizz up, but a co-worker of mine brought up an interesting point about Henry Gale.

I don't know if this has already made the rounds on the message boards (wouldn't be surprised if it had) but Henry Gale can also be found in pop culture history as "Uncle Henry" from The Wizard of Oz, which also ties into Gale's alibi, the hot air balloon, which is what The Wizard uses of course. Don't know how much else there could be here, but since nothing is "accidental" on this show, there must be a reason they named him Gale AND chose his excuse to be a crashed balloon.

Anyone else?

Yea, I heard bout this, and I think it just adds to the questionable nature of our newly-acquired prisoner. Wizard of Oz? Oh he's definitely a spy.

Surely, in true LOST fashion, I wouldn't be surprised to have a HH turnaround with the character, but until them, he stinks, and I don't like it.

Especially considering the fact Henry obviously PURPOSELY intended to rile Locke up by manipulating him into thinking that he was the Hemingway to Jack's Dostoyevsky. He's trying to cause chaos because it will make everyone/everything a little more vulnerable and judging by Locke's bowl-throwing freakout, it worked.

Really liked this episode. We've basically been on the fence about Rousseau until now and now we have a reason to like her... for now. Looking forward to Alex coming back into the picture and a mother/daughter reunion (!).

Chang, to answer your question I don't think there's any reason to suspect that Alex helped Claire with anything other than good intentions. She had kind eyes.

So big mysteries still pending... the "disease" and the identity of "him".

Next ep: How have Jin and Sun had time to get dirrrrty with all the monsters and the raft-building and the Others and the whatnot? Geez. You asians will stop at nothing to get a little t&a, will you?
