Weirdest. Episode. Ever.

I can't believe it, but I think I loved last night's episode. This DESPITE.....

--LOST using a format they never have before, taking two relatively new characters and filling in different points in LOST history with them, kind of like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. A total gimmick, but I liked it.

--LOST using a shot I had never seen from them before. The POV shot of Nikki coming out of the jungle when she staggers and falls, slamming into the sand with her. Weird, but cool.

--LOST not using "previously on LOST" instead beginning abruptly with the slammin' hot Nikki in the strip club. My first thought: "oh shit, the fanboys are going to LOVE her now!!!"

--Lando fucking Calrissian.

--Establishing Nikki as a young up-and-coming actress who also moonlights as a confidence (wo)man with her South American trash boyfriend Paolo. Also, we're to believe a hit show in the US (although never specified) shoots in Austrailia?

--LOST using not one, not two, but three people who have already died on the show? Boone, Shannon and Artz?! All in one episode for no real apparent reason.

--The overall macabre nature of the episode. From Charlie cheekily referring to Artz blowing up, to the significance of exotic spiders, to the last shot of Nikki's eyes bursting open, I was wondering if LOST superfan Steven King wrote this episode. So much craziness had happened I half expected one of their hands to burst up out of the ground like some zombie movie.

--did I mention, Nikki is fucking HOT. Paolo too, for the ladies, and I love how they worked in his "toilet still works" line, this time with added significance.

RAZZLEDAZZLE!!!!

This episode was WEIRD!

But OH SO GOOD!

"Nothing stays buried on this island."

"Maybe we can bring you back next season."

Hmm. Oh really?

Right -- "you know, you don't have to die." Duped right from the start. Great stuff.

The question is... now that they're more or less buried alive, are we going to see them again or did they wake up all too late?

There were so many clues about not dying in the episode. The two I said, yours, the whole bulletproof vest comment.

Although, the fact we saw quite a few appearances by those who have already died, it makes you wonder if it was their time as well.

Personally, I think we'll see them back again..... next season ;) Not really sure how they'll survive without being seen til then, though.

Also:

While the revisiting of the plane crash, with Nikki running around, was awesome and well-executed overall, and also Jack's speech scene, I couldn't help but be extremely disappointed at the continuity errors with Shannon and Boone. Maggie Grace is either wearing a wig or the hair is just way off: compare the recycled original shot of Shannon screaming to a new shot a few seconds later where her hair's about 4 inches longer. And at the airport, Boone's hair is shaggier AND reddish brown, then we see him on the island with short dark hair.

Come on, guys... It was so fucking close to being perfect!

They covered Boone's hair issue in the podcast... Basically, it's TV... he was coming back for one episode and has other things going on that he couldn't cut his hair, so they made him wear a wig.

They said if people get bent over that, they are watching the show for the wrong reason :P
