Season 4, Episode 10 "Something Nice Back Home"

I will be missing the LIVE broadcast of this episode to see "Iron Man." But the second I get home, I'll be rocking my DVR hard.

That said, should someone want to comment on this Jack Flashforward in the meantime, who am I to stop them?

I dug this episode hard!

In fact, dug it more than last week's. I've been just as tired of the Jack-centric stories as the next LOSTie, but this managed to give deeper dimensions to the flash forwards. We know concretely now that some people made a conscious choice to stay on the island (as Jack reminds Kate about Sawyer).

I had two interesting thoughts last night...
#1. The coffin from last season's finale. Could it be Aaron in there? Is that Jack's consequence for raising the child (as Charlie's off screen visit to Hurley noted)? Furthermore, does Jack know that Claire is his half-sister? (note he told Kate "You're not even related to him!")

#2. We see Jin barter for his wife's survival. This is just me thinking out loud and probably untrue... but, it seems that each Widmore freighter person is responsible for one LOSTie's return to the mainland. Sayid was ensured safety by Jeff Fahey/the pilot. Now, we have Jin demanding his wife's safety at the hands of C.S. Lewis. Just something interesting I noticed...

Lots of other stuff to chew on...
including Christian Shepherd's return on the island and in the flash forwards. Perhaps the least dwelt upon back story is Claire's clairvoyance from season 1. Is Christian Shepherd merely a manifestation, or a material person? The fact that Miles sees him, too, makes this cloudy. I'd wager he's a vision...

Sam, you're right about last week's episode being a good entry way for new fans. Ben has a HUGE emotional moment in last week's, but overall I felt there was more fat to that installment than necessary (I'd rate the episode a 7.5 out of 10). Not so this week...

I just loved the Kate and Jack action last night. I'm their biggest fan (as well as Jack's) so I loved it. Big fan of Kate's housewear as well.

Now that we know how Jack and Kate will split apart, here's to hoping they get back together again in the future-future.

Love the heaven metaphors. LOST may not be literally about being in purgatory, but the writers sure aren't doing anything to avoid the comparison.

I keep thinking Claire's gonna die, and that we're closer and closer to explaining how Kate got Aaron passed to her (and explaining how Emile De Ravin was on set of PUBLIC ENEMIES when I was in Oshkosh, WI two weeks ago).

And yeah, it's clear that by this point Jack knows Claire is his half-sister.

Personally, I loved the moment when Christian appears in the lobby, and the string attack that Giacchino dropped there. Again, very Twilight Zone, very b-movie, in the best possible way.

Jack & Kate 4ever! I'm such a teenage girl when it comes to those two.

I've always been an avid fan of the 'Jack's dad is still alive' theory. I also know there is quite a bit of firm dissent against this theory on this board. That being said, while I would love for Jack's dad to be an actual character (perhaps even Jacob), I'm pretty convinced he is just a manifestation.

This season is absolute gold. I've not been let down one bit. It is definitely reminiscent of the first season with groups being seperated amongst the island each with their own problems going on.

While I've been digging this season and extremely enthusiastic for Thursday nights, I haven't been discussing things. We now know that we are going to be receiving answers. Consequently, I'm just sitting back and enjoying the ride!

I was hoping Ben would baton more people and also threaten more progeny. Do I smell a spin-off?
