Season 4, Episode 6: "The Other Woman"

Probably the weakest episode of the season was also one of the most straight forward. At least as "straight forward" as LOST can be.

It also had so many references and connections from seasons 1-3 that my head is spinning.

So, lets talk Juliet. "The Other Woman."

Here's what we know. "The Other Woman" refers to Juliet, who started fucking a married man a few weeks/months after arriving on the island. Ben, who loves her for some reason relating to an unnamed "her," found out and had him killed by posing as a tailie. Ben also, SOMEHOW, got word to that mans wife to find Juliet and tell her where Faraday and Lewis were going. (The Tempest, which does god knows what) How Ben knew that, how he got word to this woman and where the fuck this woman came from, is all beyond me.

We've also confirmed what we've known for a while. Penny's dad is looking for the island and Ben is onto him. How he got that video tape, who taped it, etc? Again, that's beyond me. What also is beyond me is if Ben knows about Desmond's connection, or how Desmond's previous island role (that of button pusher) fits into anything at all, especially if Dharma was gone. This is a little murky to me.

The one little tid bit that might deal with that, though, is Ben's aside about the rabbit. "This didn't have a number on it, did it?" That's a reference to the comic-con video shown with the Dharma asian guy and experimental rabbits with 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 on them. In that video we find out that the asian guy isn't a doctor, but an actor. I can only assume that after Ben and the original others (who are somewhere on the island at this point, hanging out) killed all the Dharma people, they hired some actors to make sure the essential people - the button pushers - continued to do their jobs. But that's neither here nor there about this episode.

I think basically, we're supposed to think after "The Other Woman" and its lame ass cliffhanger, is that Ben is extremely happy with how things are going. He basically gave Locke nothing useful, and got everything in return. Should make for an interesting episode next week when we see "a character you'd never thought you'd see again" unless, like someone texted me, you read the opening credits.

Oh and randomly, in Juliet's flashback, we're reminded that someone created a list of kids to steal from the plane. That's one of those things that I had forgotten.

And right now, I'm forgetting a lot of other things too. Seriously, this episode has my mind melting. PLEASE help me with thoughts and comments and discussion.
