Season 4, Episode 11: "Cabin Fever"

After a week off, I'm back baby. But to be honest, tonight's Locke centric episode was so crazy I don't know how many good thoughts I can throw out.

Let's give it a shot, shall we?

First - the people who live on/are associated with the island have been watching over John Locke his whole life. This basically puts a whole new twist on the entire series that I don't know if I'm ready to deal with yet. I mean, we knew Locke was important. We knew Richard was immortal and important and we knew that Sgt. Daniels from The Wire was important, but to see them fill in such huge holes in Locke's past - his childhood, the idea to go to Australia, was awesome.

On the boat, we saw the doctor die, Desmond stay, Michael go into the engine room for something and Sayid bring the mode of transportation that will bring the Oceanic 6 home, to the island.

But those last scenes. Wow. Jack's dad speaking for Jacob. Isn't he dead? Claire, also dead from the explosion?, just chilling with him. Him telling Locke he needs to move the island, which is a confirmation. But I thought the question he should have asked was "Why are we here?" not "How can I save the island?" Unless, the reason they are ALL there is because Locke needs to save the island.

Why does Jeff Fahey want the beach people to follow them? With 3 hours left, the 6 get off the island next week? So many questions.

Oh, and just to reiterate, I still think my early season prediction that this season will be about them getting off, next season them getting back and the final season EVERYONE off, is going to be right.

G -- You seem to touch on this. Wasn't this one whacked out episode?

It felt a little schizo to me, in terms of the shifting stories. A little more frenetic than usual.

I'm with you on the Locke being watched over his whole life. Truth be told, I'm not a fan of this development. It seems like a recent development and not a character design from the get-go. I mean, he's met Richard as an adult. I know he was a kid and all, but don't you think there'd be a slight recognition there? Also, having Daniels from The Wire be the dude to tell him to go on a walkabout is cool... but, I don't know. The fact that Daniels only came in this season has me slightly suspicious of the writers. Didn't they have enough toys to play with already?

But, all of that was well worth it for the final scene... Jack's dad speaking for Jacob. Eh, not a huge surprise. Claire, hanging with him, and huge (evil?) grin on her face!
Chilling.

Good set up for next week! Can't wait.

If you read this blog but don't read Doc Jensen's LOST coverage on www.ew.com you are crazy.

He has so many better theories, like Ben being a replacement for Locke and so much more. But yeah Jay, last night was a mind fuck.
